"Intensive study of vocal technique as applied to the literature for active singers"

 

WORKSHOP ON MOVEMENT, ACTING AND STAGING

August 11 to August 19, 2012

After the conclusion of the three-week Daniel Ferro Vocal Program, participants will have an opportunity to further their studies with a week of classes on stage presence under the guidance of Stage Director Anna Roos.

The workshop is designed to assist singers to develop and strengthen their ability to understand and interpret a character. In a small ensemble, participants will stage musical scenes and explore the process of learning how to act a new piece of music. Classes will emphasize scene and repertoire study, character development, acting, and ensemble work, and will culminate with a Final Performance.

This Master Class devotes special attention to the choice of repertoire and complete preparation for auditions and competitions to prepare the singer to know:

  • The storyline of the opera
  • The musical style of the period
  • Comprehension of the text
  • Understanding of the character portrayed
